FAQs

front deskWhy Is It Important to Visit the Dentist Regularly?

Just like you should visit your doctor for an annual wellness check, you should also visit the dentist regularly to maintain your oral health and prevent problems from occurring with professional dental cleanings.

Routine dental exams also provide an opportunity for Dr. Zalesky to detect potential problems in their earliest stages when they are most easily and cost-effectively treated.

How Often Should I Visit the Dentist?

Healthy adults with no ongoing oral health concerns should visit the dentist twice a year, or every six months, for a checkup, teeth cleaning, and oral cancer screening.

Children and patients who have ongoing oral health concerns, such as active tooth decay or periodontal disease, might need to visit more frequently for dental exams, cleanings, scaling and root planing, or other treatments designed to manage chronic oral health problems.

I Wear Dentures. Do I Still Need to Visit the Dentist?

Yes, even patients who are missing all or most of their teeth should still visit the dentist regularly. During your dental appointments, Dr. Zalesky examines your gum tissue and bone structure, in addition to performing an oral cancer screening.

We also talk with you about, evaluate, and adjust the fit of your dentures. It’s normal for the bone structure, muscle mass, and tissues that affect denture wear to change over time. As a result, regular denture adjustments are necessary for a comfortable, natural-feeling fit that offers minimal slippage, friction, and discomfort.

Do You Offer Financing or Other Payment Options?

We are pleased to provide our patients with CareCredit as a financing option for covering the portions of your healthcare expenses that are not covered by your insurance (i.e., out-of-pocket medical or dental expenses).

Additionally, we accept a variety of payment forms and dental and medical insurance plans. For more information about payment, billing, financing, and the insurance plans we accept, we welcome you to contact our office.

Do You Treat Children?

Although Aurora Hills Dental does not specialize in pediatric dentistry, we can see children for regular checkups and teeth cleanings in our office. This makes it more convenient to schedule your whole family’s appointments at the same dental office.

Why Do I Need Dental X-Rays?

Sometimes, dental problems can first occur where they cannot be detected with the naked eye. Dental x-rays allow our dentist to screen you for oral health problems that might be happening below the gum line or inside your teeth and/or problems affecting your jawbone structure or sinuses.

Is It Safe To Get Dental X-Rays When Pregnant?

Yes. If you are due for dental x-rays, or Dr. Zalesky recommends them for a relevant dental concern, we strongly encourage you to get your dental x-rays taken even during pregnancy. Maintaining good oral health during pregnancy is essential. Many oral health problems can affect your overall health and even affect your pregnancy and the health of your baby.

Our office uses digital dental x-ray technology which greatly reduces the exposure time necessary for capturing dental radiographs. Additionally, we always take extreme precautions, using protective gear to shield our patients from any radiation.
