Orthodontics

orthodonticsCrooked, crowded, or misaligned teeth are fairly common problems that can lead to a variety of secondary issues such as jaw pain, abnormal tooth wear, increased instances of tooth decay and cavities, and more.

At Aurora Hills Dental, we offer patients a variety of orthodontic treatments and services designed to help address some of these concerns. If further treatments are necessary, we can also provide you or your child with a referral to a local orthodontist who specializes in treating the specific issue at hand.

What Is Orthodontics?

Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry that focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and correction of misaligned teeth, jawbones, and bite patterns (malocclusion).

Additionally, in pediatrics, orthodontics sometimes addresses and modifies a child’s facial growth and development. This specific branch of orthodontics is called dentofacial orthopedics.

Orthodontic Services at Aurora Hills Dental

ClearCorrect

An alternative to traditional metal braces, ClearCorrect uses a system of clear aligner trays to gently and gradually shift misaligned teeth into the desired positions.

ClearCorrect is appropriate for minor to moderate alignment corrections. This type of orthodontic treatment is typically only recommended for adults and older children since adherence to wearing the aligner trays is essential to the success of the treatment.

Palatal Expanders

Palatal expanders are dental devices that help address crowded teeth in children by gradually and painlessly encouraging the upper palate to expand as the child grows and develops.

Spring Retainers

Spring retainers are a solution for correcting minor misalignment with teeth. A spring retainer hugs the teeth and gradually shifts them into the desired positions without the need for a full set of metal braces.

Orthodontic Restorations

When orthodontic treatments, such as metal braces, leave visible traces behind on a patient’s teeth, our dentist can help restore and revitalize their appearance with orthodontic restorations.

Depending on the patient’s needs, these treatments can sometimes include dental bonding, crowns, veneers, and inlays or onlays. With orthodontic restoration, patients can fully enjoy their completely revitalized smiles following orthodontic treatment.
